7th Annual Memorial Celebration at Prairie Creek Conservation Cemetery

11/05/2017 01:00 PM-04:00 PM

For those of us with loved ones buried at PCCC, the annual memorial gathering provides a luminous time of remembrance and celebration. Whether you have a friend or family member buried here, or have been planning to come out for a visit, we welcome you to attend PCCC’s 7th Annual Memorial Celebration. Chairs will be provided, but feel free to bring your own chair or blanket to stretch in the grass.

The gathering will begin with food and fellowship at 1:00, and the program will begin at 2:00.

Performances will include music by Elaine Mahon, The Gainesville Master Chorale Chamber Singers, Lost Safari Drummers, Murshida Va, and special guest Cason Duke, principal trombone with Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. We will also have poetry by John Stinson, Sydney Wade, and by John Buchholtz who memorialized his “quest to find a hallowed ground so tempting that it disarms death” in a poem titled “The Last Wish On My Bucket List” about his burial at PCCC in 2015. UCG Senior Minister Shelly Wilson will deliver the keynote address, and also lead a Sacred Trail Contemplative Walk in collaboration with PCCC Assistant Cemetery Manager Ruth Segal.

There will also be an opportunity to recognize and applaud our dedicated volunteers and board of directors, without whom PCCC could not exist.

Attendees with loved ones buried at PCCC will be invited to speak the name of their loved one and ring the ceremonial bell.

Some food and drink will be provided, including fresh roasted local coffee compliments of Opus Coffee, and your potluck items are welcome.

Golf cart tours of the cemetery will also be available throughout the day.
