Final Friends': Caring For Our Own

06/04/2017 01:00 PM-04:00 PM

Caring For Our Own:
A Presentation on planning a home funeral.

People have been caring for deceased loved ones at home for millennia. The experience, while sad, is ultimately healing and beautiful. Beginning the grieving process in the privacy of our homes allows for sharing and support on a deeper level. Final Friends – a group of Gainesville citizens – will facilitate this workshop for individuals and families who would like to learn how to care for their own dead.

You will learn the legalities and practices involved in performing a do-it-yourself home funeral. Did you know that embalming is not required, that the deceased can be kept at home, and that the family can file the death certificate and transport the deceased to the cemetery or crematory?

DETAILS 1pm – 4pm, Sunday, June 4, 2017 Prairie Creek Lodge 7204 SE County Road 234, Gainesville, FL 32643

The workshop is free. A tour of Prairie Creek Conservation Cemetery will be available at 4 pm following the workshop.
